For one, spot UV printing is super cool, and pretty much impossible to overlook. it adds both a textural and visual experience unlike other card types. The most similar example would probably be foil stamped business cards, whereby foil is similarly applied to set element in the card for visual and textural effect.

Spot UV combines the two most common card finishes - matte and gloss - by applying the gloss coating only to specific areas of the design, as directed by the graphic designer, rather than laminating the whole card in gloss. It is most commonly used on a logo, company name or another key visual element, giving that element a raised, reflective contrast against the matt surface around it. On the 3D Spot UV card specifically, the coating is thick enough to be genuinely felt as well as seen - a real textural difference, not just a printed visual effect.
Deluxe Printing produces 3D Spot UV business cards in-house at our Al Qusais facility, on 400gsm pristine white card with matt lamination on both sides, so the base card feels considered even before the spot UV detail is added.
Spot UV can be applied to a single side of the card or both sides. Single-side suits a design where only the front carries the key visual element needing emphasis - typically a logo. Both-side spot UV suits a design using the reverse of the card as well, where a second element, pattern, or piece of contact information also benefits from the raised, glossy treatment. The choice depends entirely on where the design actually needs the effect, not on one option being a lesser version of the other.
